Hi Guys, I need some help with arranging my computer case for overclocking purpose.
I have a medium size computer case and I need to have a case window and some fans. In the fans I'm hoping to add 120 mm fan and 2 80 mm fans. 1 80mm to intake air through front side and 120 mm to push air out from top and another 80 mm to push air by behind the case. Do you think it's good to fix a 120mm or 80mm fan in the case window side? My main rig will be AMD XP2000+ @ 1800 MHz and MSI KT4V mobo and pc 2700 256 MB RAM. Two MSI cd-roms, 1 or 2 Hard disks (Currently having 20 GB 7200 RPM Hard disk) and of course a floppy drive and Radeon 7500 64MB(SD Ram) vga card. Hope you guys can help me to figure out the best way to arrange cooling fans for opium air-cooling inside the case. Currently I'm having a full tower casing and inside it processor is taking 55- 70C heat differences. I though having a small casing with good air ventilation will be better than the (Correct me if I'm wrong in there):D

I think 120mm fans in windows are ugly myself. You prolly will want to get a clear fan to put on the window, preferably an LED one or something of that nature.

The key here is to balance your CFMs. Have as much going in as you have going out is one rule of thumb. Others choose positive air pressure due to less dust collection inside your PC. You are not going to need some super fast high RPM 120mm on top of your case. I am the type that like the silent approach after leaving watercooling.

You also need to consider getting rounded cables and wire wrap to clean up your case wires. You will be suprised as to how that can shave degrees off your temps.

How about an 80mm in front, an 80mm in the side. both of those blowing in, then a 120mm in the back or top blowing out.

if you can stand the look of the side intake i say go for the 120 b/c you get more coverage on the mobo-you can hit your vid northbridge and even your ram and CPU to minor degrees. If not then just go with the 80mm. The main page has some nice guides to airflow setup as do the cooling stickies.

I would go with a 120mm in the top of the case because if you have had your computer running and then feel the top as compared to the bottom, it is far hotter. A 120mm would have great cooling power.

Thank You,
Daniel

Hi Guys thanks all for the great response, well as i told you i'm going to use a normal casing to test the m/c. in here i don't care abt the appearance bu the result is important. Currently my rig running 50-60 C wana reduce it as quickly as possilbe mabye rounded ide will help me but most of those rounded cables and clear fans are not avaible in my country so need to get down. Any idea abt a good realible web site that i can order and get through courier but not for very high prices iether. I'm living in Sri lanka wonde if any have hear abt it. Thanks for the help again.
This is a experiment so all your cooments and ideas are welcome gladly.

Put the fan on the top so it blows out more hot air because hot air rises. Also you might want one in the back also it wouldnt no hurt at allexcept for noise. I dont know if that is a problem for you
