My boss intentionally left out the driver CD with the synchronization software. It's an iPAQ 3970 with a 400Mhz CPU and 64MB plus 32MB add-on (SD) memory. I don't wanna synchronize, but I would like to put some pics and MP3's on the iPAQ. So what's gonna happen when I plug it into my main PC's USB port, I wanna be sure Windows 2000pro doesn't make any changes or anything before I plug it in!!!

Yeah. You can connect your Pocket PC and put your pics and mp3s on it without having to synchronize. I used to do it all the time with my HP Jornada 568. I never had or felt the need to synchronize.

Legendary is correct...sychronizing is a deliberate thing...you need to issue the command. But watch out, if you ever "accidently" sychronize, the default setting is that the PC is the "boss" system and will overwrite everything on the Pocket PC. That can be a major loss of data if you use your iPaq as your primary appointment/data keeper.

ok I tried it and you still need to install synchronization software to enable ANY access to the iPAQ PC, but you can just disable the synchronization process and browse the damn thing, lol! So I now have some cuztom images and MP3's to take with my on my iPAQ...
