Come to think of it...what's the difference between an Athlon and a T-Bird (different chip)?

But I'm getting an 800 Duron...what can i do to make this an Athlon/T-Bird?
asides from replacing the chip (they both use PC 133 correct?)

thanks in advance

Actually, the Duron's and Athlon's are PC200 if you want to call it that. The run a 200mhz cpu bus. As for changing them, they can't be changed. The Duron has 64KB's of L2 cache and the Athlons have 256KB's so you can't change them...sorry.

Sorry, I'm not quite sure what you're asking... do you want to know what you can upgrade to from the duron?

If you replace the duron with a tbird then yes, it will be a tbird - the rest of the system is irrelevent if that's what you mean. Obviously the mobo has to be socket A so the cpu works with it, but if for instance I were to take out my duron and stick in a tbird it'd be a tbird system... think that's what you mean. Nothing else needs changing :-)

you could glue some xtra 192kb of second level cache on it ^_^
