Anyone have this cert? I am studying for it. I currently have my A+. Any hints you can tell me about it? Will it help in landing a job or what?
Im studying for the Network+ aswell I have my test in a few weeks so ive been hammering my Network+ book like mad these past few days. Wether it will help land a job I dont know but I hope so, I think it will alteast give us the edge of getting the job against someone who doesnt have the qualification.:)

That makes three of us. Did you guys find any place online that have free practice questions for the N10-002 test? Most of the ones I've found only have questions for the older version N10-001. I have no actual job experience, but I know my stuff. I'm hoping this certification will help me find some kind of computer related job.
A CD came with my book with practice exams and such, so i dont need to look online for them, my advice to you guys if you havnt already go out and buy a Network+ study guide you will stand a much beter chance of passing aswell as understanding what sort of level you need to be at.

I have not personally taken Net+ but from what I have heard the test is mainly OSI model. Note: this is hearsay.
I do have my CCNA though, and I would rather have my CCNA over Net+ any day. ;)
I have taken it, It is not a easy test.... As far as helping to land a job, it helps of course, but i hope ya have more than this one cert... Heck, a MCSE can't even get a fair wage anymore.

That was borderline flaming.
On another note, I did say it was hearsay, and I have not taken the exam.
edit: I do apologize for knocking the Net+ exam and anyone who has taken and/or passed that certification.

Hey bro chill with the biting response. CharlesHF clearly stated that what he said was hearsay.. if you believe you have conflicting information about the Net+ test then you could have presented it in a much more polite manner. Also, belittling his certification was totally uncalled for.

geeesh, just having fun. Not trying to insult anyone. Don't take a simple comment on a message board so serious. Sorry if I offended anyone. However, let's not get all worked up over a message board post.

Along with another thread of yours that I saw recently, I too cannot find a job in IT to save my life.

charlesHF,
It's horrible isn't it? Why isn't there any entry level computer work out there? I don't care if the economy is bad, it isn't like computers are going to go anywhere. Any company has to have computers. I don't understand why computer people aren't at a high demand.

[thread hijack]Hehe, nobody around here is hiring. Years ago computer people were in high demand for the knowledge that they held and the fact that they alone controlled this knowledge. Now, with how popular computers have are and how far they have come, many people have enough knowledge that it's cheaper not to hire someone to do computer work for them.[/thread hijack]

Do you ever think things will pick up again? I mean, it wasn't but two years ago that computers where everywhere. It is amazing how things have changed!

It's a possibility, but I think that being born about 5 years earlier than when I was born would probably be more helpful than wishing that the IT job market is going to pick back up again. What people and companies/corporations really want are the people who have the super hard certifications and years of experience. (CCIE with 10-15 years+ of experience) Unfortuantely, people like us just can't compete with people like that. Someday hopefully we will be able to....

I really hope so but I doubt it for the simple reason there are too many people in the same boat as us. But what the heck i guess if I try looking for a job for long enough someone will eventuallt give me a shot, I hope so anyway:(

this is depressing.

Know the OSI Model front and back. That is the hardest part to it... Or maybe it's just because my memory is crap, stinks getting old.

clash,
did you pass? get a job b/c of it? Come on buddy, clue us in! :)
Yes i have A+ and the N+
And no, i made no career change because of it. I thought i wanted to get into the industry, but for the money, they can't match what i'm making for the Railroad. So i'll stay put for now.
I spend my day behind a Welding Hood....

I will be A+ and Net+ shortly, but I guess that won't make a drop of diff. Man O man!!!!!
Don't get me wrong, it IS something to show employers when applying for a position. If i were a young man like yourself, i would take any IT position you can get. Even if the pay is less than par. Employers want experiance, and taking the less than glamorous jobs now, will help land a better job in the future.
Good luck to ya.
