View Full Version : p/c freezing on o/c duron
anyone know, in general terms, what causes computer to freeze for no apparent reason.
is a duron 800 @ 1000 on kt7. always runs cool.
is this a chip or hardware conflict issue.
any possible solutions would be greatly appreciated
thanks...

If this system runs fine at stock speed, 1000mhz is just not stable speed for your setup. This is cuz your cpu can only opperate right in 99.9999% cases. the missing fraction causes errors.
Have you tried to use Prime 95 to do self test? This test does huge number of calculations and can verify if your system is creating round-off errors, or some bs in general.

It's possible it could be your RAM or one of your PCI cards, if you're running at a higher than default FSB(which it doesn't look like you are). I rececntly pulled one of my sticks out, it was a no-name that I had had good results with before. I have now managed to squeeze an extra 30+ Mhz out of it, and my stability probs have gone away.
freezing in 3d appz normally means: i need more power. but in general it could be the ram if you get BSOD like me :(
