I have an Epox 7KXA motherboard and an Athlon 900 Slot A CPU. I have played around with the frequency settings and am able to run stable at 1033 Mhz. Is it safe to do this using only bios settings? I was told I would need a goldfinger device to overclock this, but I don't know anything about this. I have the voltage set at 1.8 volts. I am pretty new at this, but am having fun. I am running Windows 98 se and have 128MB of PC150 Kingmax memory installed. For cooling I have a Golden Orb CPU fan which is what a friend of mine recommended. Any hints or help you could give me would be great, I don't really want to fry anything.

Well, I haven't used a goldfinger device but I figure that's the best way to overclock Slot A's. For cooling though a Golden orb will not do if you plan to take it higher, look for a Globalwin for the Slot A, It has twin 60mm fans. Oh and with Goldfinger device I think you can break the 1.8v barrier taking it up to 1,100 or maybe even 1,200. My old 800 Tbird was able to do 1,129 just to show you a difference in breaking the 1.8v barrier, but if you plan to take the voltage up to 1.92/1.98/2.03, etc you need a better heatsink, Gorbs just won't do it. make sure you got good thermal past also.
