View Full Version : 2200+ Tbred B's
Hi there. I've been reading though the forums lately and I'm a little confused about the xp 2200+ processors. It seems that some threads claim all 2200+ chips are Tbred A's while in a few others some people claim to have 2200 Tbred B's. I think I might have a 2200 B core chip. Unfortunately I didn't take a look at my chip before it was installed and I'm too lazy to take off the heat sink to find out. The best I could do was to download the GCPUID and CPUz programs. Both of which seem to tell me that I have a B core chip. Are the 2200 Tbred B's really that rare? Just curious.
BTW I'm running my 2200 @ 2009 (15 X 134) right now.
It was P95 stable for 12 hours at 2070 (15 X 138) but I had to bump the voltage by 5% and crank my fan speed way up (volcano 9) so it was quite loud.
It also ran at 2100 (15 X 140) but I had to turn on my aux case fan (really loud) and it still ran too hot. I'll just have to wait untill I can afford an slk-800 and then see what she'll do.

I suggest cranking your fsb up while lowering your multiplier to determine your maximum fsb first.
You will see a lot more performance improvement from a faster fsb than compared to an equivalent cpu clock from an increase in your multiplier.
I've tried a few different combo's. So far the highest FSB I can reach is 147. Here's a quick list of some of the combinations I tried.
@1985 13.5 X 147 it was stable. Everything ran fine and fairly cool too with the fan running med. speed. Anything above 147 and I think the PCI clock get's too far out of whack and crashes.
I then went to the 14 multi 133-147
@2002 14 X 143 it was quite good and probably ran faster than the current 2009 15 X 134 setup.
@2058 14 X 147 It was stable, but even with all the fans on it ran a little too hot for my liking.
I then wen to the 15 multi
@2009 15 X 134 (my current setup) it runs perfect, albeit probably a little slower than the 14 X 143 setup.
As I said earlier, 15 X 138 was ok, but with all the fans it was too loud for me. The reason I'm leaving it at 15 X134 is because when I get some better cooling I should have no problems hitting higher FSB's on the 15 multi. It's only a temporary setting.

Ah!
I'm sorry, I get so use to my agp/pci lock that I forget that not all MBs have that feature.
What system are you running BTW?
Man, I would love to have PCI/AGP locks. Oh well, that's what you get for a semi-budget build.
Athlon XP 2200+ @ 2009 ($130)
Cheapo PC2700 DDR
GA-7VAX-A w/ KT400A chipset ($100)
HSF Thermaltake Volcano 9 (Free leftover)
ATI radeon 7500 (Free leftover)
WD 80GB 8MB cache HDD ($135)
Before you say I overpaid, these prices are in $CDN.
I also know that the KT400A chipset has a 1/5 divider and I should be able to get to the 166-180 FSB range, but I need to do a mobo mod before I can access the upper FSB range and I don't know how to solder at all. It will get done however and I plan on running 12 X 175 or 12 X 180 eventually.

Ok, I'm going to say right now: There are no Tbred B 2200s.
EDIT: As of 20 minutes ago I'm not so sure anymore...
I have one of the As, too (not in rig). If there was even ONE Tbred B 2200 *somebody* would have posted some results out here. If I'm wrong about this everyone feel free to flame me until I'm a burning wreck.
Here's a link to some useful info on that board, btw.

You might be right but dabs have AXDA2200 DUV3C and DKV3C and the Pallies ended at 2100+.
Any ideas on these two different voltages if they are not Tbed A and B's?
Sorry, no direct link so sellect AMD from the list on the left of this (http://www.dabs.com) then Athlon XP - be quick there's only 2 DKV3c's left.
Ok, I removed the HSF just to get to the bottom of this (I'm getting quite good at using the screwdriver attachment). Thankfully, I wasn't dissapointed. Here are the codes from the chip.
AXDA2200DUV3C
9476907270042 (just the S/N right?)
AIUCB0204XPGW
Ok, according to the info on this site, the AIUCB means I have a Tbred B and the A at the front means it's one of the high end B's right?
Thanks for the link to the mobo info.

Yes that's an early B, better than the A's but it's a few steps away from the AIUHB's we have now.
The 2200 did indeed exist in revision B. Yes, you have one, and yes they are rare, for overclockers at least, since most buy 2100+'s or 1700+'s. This why we see almost no reports of one. If memory serves, Duner is the second person on these forums to have one. You may be confused with the 2000+, as no know revision B's of these exist. I don't remember who the first was, but someone had one. The "C" means that its of lower quality than an AIUHB, but it should do fine anyways. The "A" is supposed to indicate higher quality, but usually doesn't in actuality. The 1700+ and 1800+ are all JIUHB's since they're supposed of lower quality wafers, but often overclock higher than the AIUHB 2100+'s, for example. It seems like you're off to a pretty good start, though. You will have to pump plenty of voltage into to it to max out its potential, and when you get an SLK800, this shouldn't be a problem. The mod to get 166mhz is really simple too. It looks like 2.2 should be very possible, maybe even 2.3, in which case you'd disprove the age-long notion of 2200+ being terrible overclockers ;).

ACK! I am officially losing it. So there IS a Tbred 2200B???
I just found a link that clearly indicates there ARE two versions of this chip.
http://www.overclockers.com/tips00110/
I'll check my 2200 but I bought it in November so I think I'm outa' luck so....
Would somebody please try to OC the crap out of one of these chips and post some results? It would be really cool to discover there is another OCing uberchip.
PS Duner-not trying to threadjack-just trying to get some clarification on this for both of us.
Ok, I connected to two solder points on the mother board and accessed the 166+FSB. Currently I'm running it @2040 12X 170 and she seems to be doing well. When I removed the HSF to check the chip numbers I also removed a few globs of dust bunnies that were lying between the fan and heat sink. It seems to have helped. At the 2040 setting with stock voltage, it doesn't even get to 40C full load, and that's with the fan turning 3800 rpms. Max fan speed is 5400rpm on this thing so I've got a bit extra cooling to spare if I don't mind the noise. I may turn it up just to check how far she'll go with this Volcano 9.
Would somebody please try to OC the crap out of one of these chips and post some results? It would be really cool to discover there is another OCing uberchip.
I agree with you here. However, I probably won't be the one doing it. I'm a total noob, and this is my first overclock. Combine that with my average HSF and I probably couldn't max it out with my current setup if I tried. I will continue to post my results as they come in. It's time for some stability tests.

Thanks. This answers my original question. I didn't buy the chip to overclock it so it's just a bonus that it happens to be a B core.

Great job Duner! Happy OC'ing and hope we will see you around :)
Wow, I din't think that they made 2200 t'bred B chips. Sorry for the misleading information I have given on the subject. And thanks for finding the truth on the elusive t'bred B 2200. Let us know how your does.

Uh...yeah. What he said.
Tour this place often, Duner. You will learn things.
I have been touring for a while, and I still never learned that there were t'bred B 2200's...same with a lot of the other people who frequent this side of the forums.

LOL o well we will see what i can get it too

thx for gcpuid i have been looking for it but according to this is have a t-bred b so i guess my 1st post was wrong i am not sure how to take screenshots(im illeterate to that) but if u post how i will be glad to at the moment its running @ 2200 (163X13.5) but like i said my custom pertier cooling sys is finished and being tested i hope to have it on my amd tonight or tomorrow :) but i wiill snd u a screen shot when i figure out how
Just hit the print screen key, go in to a graphics program, and paste.
Duner, just out of interest can you do a screenshot of WPCUID?
Ok, I had to dowload the program first, but it wasn't hard to find.
Here's a screenshot of both WCPUID and GCPUID side by side at my current setup.
170 X 12 = 2040 MHz. Anthing higher and I have to raise the core voltage, which I'm not doing until I get some better cooling.
Umm, I guess I'm a new member so I'm not allowed to add attachments. The best I can do is link to the image. If someone would be so kind as to download the image and attach it to the thread that would be great.

I think we can safely confirm the first sightings of Tbred B XP2200's! Duner are you in US or Europe? - just that XP2000 Tbred B seems more prevalent in Europe than US and was wondering if it is the same for XP2200.

ooh yea dunner plz tell me how u unlocked the upper multis i would really appreciate it thx
OC Detective
06-15-03, 09:32 PM
XP2200 has 8x bit set to high with default multi of 13.5 so the upper multis should already be available on at least KT400 and NF2 boards.
Yeah, I didn't have to do anything special to the chip, it came unlocked from the factory. My mobo has the KT400A chipset and the multis are adjusted via some dipswitches beside the processor. So far I've tried 10-16 and they all work.

well crap my mb is a pos then i cant get any multi other than 13.5 :( o well im gonna order a nf3 chipset mb as soon as they come out( i herd they come out in eatly july so wont be too long) so i think i am gonna wait and order my ram then im thinking about just going ahead and ordering corsair so i dont have to worry about the bs that i am going through now with bad ram well for now i at 1998 and if i go any higher on fsb it locks up so it stuck at that until i get my new mb and ram :( o well so much for serious ocing at the moment i will get back to u if i decide to order ram eraly

NF3 chipsets might not be for Tbreds but just Opterons and A64's. (not sure about it however).

ok i am gonna make this short and quick.... i have been in the whole amd scene or whatever you wanna call it for a while and i have seen the following:
1800+ AIUHB, 2000+ AIUHB, 2200+ AIUC/GB
What does this mean? it means that every single AMD cpu except the 1900+ HAS been released as a Tbred B... they are hard to come upon but they HAVE been released. No i am not getting confused w/ JIUHB either. Where have i seen these? On various forums as well as on online websites. I remember for a fact that both excaliber as well as gameve.com offered 2200+ as a Tbred B for a few weeks. A few have reported getting the good AIUHB stepping in the 2000+ from newegg. The 1800+ AIUHB (even tho DLT3C JIUHB is better) was on sale at gameve for a little while.
there i hope that settles this mtter
