What can we expect after the fx cards? I've been holding out on getting a new video card cause i wanna get the latest-n-greatest available when doom 3 comes out. Just kinda curious what to expect around that time.

Reviews are already out, and all but the FX5900 has been released....
Basically, the FX5600 is a small step up from a Ti4600, but with DX9 support, and the FX5200 seems quite a step down from the Ti4200, though w/ DX9 support. Same FSAA algorithm, same IQ, better AF performance....
FX5900 should be released by July, it's quite fast, but lacking the IQ of the R9800PRO, and tough to get a handle on apples to apples comparisons b/c of recent driver hacks....
Anyway, be aware there are (2) revisions already for the FX5600. The early revision stinks, avoid it like the plague...they have re-spun the core, and the revision (2) cards are far better than the revision (1) cards...much better core and memory overlcocking available........
Forget about the whole "Cinematic rendering" crap, as these cards can only run games in FP16 (They support FP32, but waaayyyyyyy to slow to game)
Hope this helps:)
Preserved can you explain FP16 and FP32 vs how ATI uses FP24?
I know it has something to do with quality and 16bit vs 32bit.
The FP... im not sure what that stands for.

FP= Floating Point precison
This comes mainly from hype about the FX, I'm sure we'll see usable FP32 in the future....

When's DOOM 3 expected?
FP32 is slow on nvidia cards? Do you have a link? As far as I know, the FX works with FP32 internally by default, just like the R3x0 core does FP24 internally by default.
I wouldn't call the FX5900 next-gen... next-gen will definitely be the NV40; however, there are no details as of now.
