Using a phone charger :)
Thought I would see if my 3.7 v Nokia charger would power an 80mm fan. Well, it did :) Thanks to sirtoby for the idea.
Sorry for the bad quality but my webcam sucks :(
Edit: will find upload service, thanks Blueacid.

Trouble is, they spin slowly that way :D Nokia chargers are about 4.2 volts, not the 12 volts that the fan will be wanting :D

Nice to see it's catching on.. ;)
Here's mine, a Delta 60x60 fan running off a Ericsson phone charger..
Running at 4.6 V

Funny, mine says: "Output, 3.7 v - 355mA"
Maybe it changed after Britain went from 240v to 230v.
Such a good idea sirtoby (the genius behind this) that i'd thought i'd try it on a lower transformer.

I'd just need to get an extra 80x80 fan .. the 60x60 does move some air but not enough to keep me as cool as I'd want to.. :)

i used a charger to power the 90mm fan cooling my stereo rack. works flawless, and i can vary the voltage. cheap and ghetto way rocks.

LOL that's funny. I'm using one of my Deltas in my sig to keep me cool, since my system is down right now. I have the nexus so I can control the speed at will. ;)

Good idea to put to use all thos extra chargers and powercables I cannot remember what they go to, to work. What is the lowest I can go and still power an 80mm?

dunno.. all fans are different. Some won't do 7, and some will do below 5.

Evidently Evercool 80mm fans don't need much voltage ;)

Well, I have a large desk fan, which seems to do the job well :D
Cjwinnit, why were you awake at 5:47am on a Sunday? :)
