Hi all,
I've finally built a computer for a friend with a BE7 mobo I had since xmas. I installed Win2000 on the system with all updates, including mobo BIOS updates. However I can't the AC 97 sound to work at all! I get a message that the sound mixer is not installed and to choose it from the Add Hardware section in Control Panel. But Mixer doesn't even show up as an option to add. I do have the onboard sound enabled in BIOS. Also the Icon for the sound does not show up in the startup bar, nor do I have any volumn controls or anything showing concerning sound. I have tried several times to reload the sound drivers from the Abit CD with no success, plus trying to manually reload the sound. Any ideas from any of you?

Thanks,
Mike

Have you altered the AGP : PCI ratio ?
If you have that can cause AC 97 to act like that it did for me,
Just check that it is locked at 66/33 Mhz and reinstall the drivers.

Thanks all,
It was the pci ratio that caused the problems. Alls fine now. Thanks again.

Cheers,
Mike
