I can proudly announce that I finally installed MySQL, PHP, Apache, and phpBB (a forum), and got the whole thing working!
Now, what I want is an smtp e-mail server (so that users can send messages to each other on the forum). What do I use? I know there are many programs out there, but, seriously, I'm too tired to search google for the best one.... I'm about to go to bed, and I'm hoping my fellows overclockers can give me a hint... :D

edit:
ok, now what about a pop server? Qpopper?

Ok, I can't seem to find much in the way of howtos/tutorials/documentation on qpopper...
Anyone care to tell me where I can find it, or if there are better pop servers? I stumbled upon qmail, but couldn't figure what it exactly was (because I was focused on qpopper...)
Thanks
I'd recommend Courier-pop3

Try the Postfix Addons (http://www.postfix.org/addon.html) section. There is a link to Qpopper (http://www.eudora.com/qpopper/), as well as other pop3 servers there.

Use courier for pop3 or cyrus if you´re a big site and need lots of cool features. courier is easier to setup tho.
If you can help it, don´t use pop3. Use IMAP

that link to qpopper is next to useless... thanks anyway though;
I think I'll go with courier, thanks guys; as for IMAP - I guess I could try that, it's just that pop3 seemed more popular (well, I think it's much older as well...)....
I'll give it a try, thanks.
