The 800 needs an adapter for a 92mm fan, the 900 will accept one as is. If you keep that fan cranked all the way up as opposed to the 80mm you might loose a couple of degrees. Remember, larger fans have larger dead spots in the middle, so you don't realize all the airflow they have.

There is a lot of discussions on the forums about using adapters, funnels and ducts to put bigger fans on the heatsink. Do some searches, you see them all. One of the problems with using said procedures is that the hub of larger fans is usually a little larger, creating a sort of dead spot. Also, you loose flow when you go through an adapter, especially when you try to funnel air thorugh a smaller opening, pressure matters more and larger fans usually spin slower and thus generate less pressure.
