Got a IC7-G, Few Quesions

I Just got the abit ic7-g and two segate barracuda sata hd with a 2.8c. I have a few questions about setting up raid. First, what raid is best 0 or 1. Ive never set up raid on a fresh install so how is it done. Is there a better bios for this mobo to flash to for raid with sata? Can I flash the bios the same way as the asus a7n8x by using alt & f2. And for the last question, what do the segate drives need to be set as, master or slave. Also one more, can I add an additional hard drive on the ide port for back up?
