hello i was bored so i though of some stuff.
ok i was thinking i could put togeather a kit with switches (industrial grade illuminated pushbutton switches) and the wiring harnesses to hook them up to any mother board, maybe offer some covers and bezels to add an industrial look and all.
(red, yellow, green led illumination or blue in incandescent illumination)
first off you think anyone would buy them?
second what do you think a good asking price would be?
keep in mind these are industrial switches form a reputible company.
then i got another idea, i could make a kit that would allow you to use a IR remote controll button to turn your computer on or off.
again think there is a market?
and what would you consider a reasonable price?
and lastly anything you guys can think of that would be nice and usefull?

the ir remote kit sounds like a good idea. i've tried making my own with the wireless doorbell idea, but that didn't work out too well. I think a reasonable price for such a kit would be around $20 - 30. You'd sell more b/c its cheaper then the other kits i've seen, sometimes as expensive as $60.

I was just thinking maybe to get more than one reply, come on guy, is it worth my time or am i wasting it???
I like the idea of infra red. Maybe you could do something like a winamp controller, also. If it had the ability to turn the computer on and do winamp controls, I'd certainly pay $40-50. Not sure if that's easily possible, though.

this is the alternative modding section where many and I mean many people would rather make their own mods. I think the switch kit set is rather weak as we could go to radioshack and get the same equipment.
For the IR idea its better then the switch idea but then many of us and others would rather create it ourselves. Also there would be many design complications, because many newer computers can power on through USB and PS2. But some cannot so you would have to incorporate 2 different designs.
Ive seen the IR remote idea around, so you might want to think of something else to throw out as a buisness product.

Kit as in you get a board, a schematic, some enclosures, a bag of parts.
something that has been designed and engineered to work if properly assembled, and it was guna use the existing mother board method of reseting and power on.
the switches were going to be better than "radio shack" quality and be lighted also interface to the mobo, and once again you get switches wiring harnesses schematic and are expected to wire her all up.
as for diy i see so many times on here the same questions about led's and resistors, and how to do this and that, that i figured it would appeal to people for a quality kit that all they had to do was solder up and install
and btw this isnt for a quick buck, its not goint to be from some huge corp, no its my hobby, i'm good at it and i want to share the cool **** i build with others, hence the reason i asked what a good fair price was to you guys, if say parts cost more than the fair price i wouldent offer it but i'd release schematics and the such, maybe i'd make a few assembled one on request for the people who cant solder.

oh, if that's what u mean, i'd definitley consider the ir remote. save me the trouble of finding the parts, and i'd still be able to build it myself. it's a good idea, i think a lot of ppl would be interested. perhaps if you advertise the idea in other sections threads like general hardware you'd get more responses.
