I'm building a new rig soon, with a P4 2.4c, ASUS P4P800, and an Antec case with 120mm intake and 120mm exhaust. I also plan to add a top blowhole and at least one side intake.
My goal for the new chip is 3.2 GHz, with a reach for 3.4 GHz (3.4 GHz would be a 283 MHz FSB, which may be past the capabilities of the MB, but we'll see).
I am air-cooling this system, and my original plan was to go with the SLK-900u, the king of heatsinks. However, noise is an issue, and the Zalman ZNPS7000-Cu seems like it might fit the bill nicely - much quieter with not much drop in cooling potential.
What does everyone think about this decision? Is there by chance someone out there who used to have an SLK-900u and switched to the Zalman?
No water at this time.
