I have been planning on getting an IC7 and a P4 2.6c, but recently I started looking at the IS7 due to a suggestion I recieved here on the boards. I read some reviews and browsed the Abit boards a bit, and was surprised to find that in some cases the IS7 has been performing better than the IC7. Also, the IS7 is cheaper and has onboard LAN, which greatly appeals to my thin wallet ;) However, I have also heard that the IS7 may not overclock as well.

I'm looking to reach a bare minimum of 250fsb, with around 275 being my max goal (using pc3500 ram.) Has anyone here had any experience OC'ing the IS7 board? I've been reading these boards for a while, and I think I'd trust the opinions here moreso than some other places :p

I've been running an IS7 for a couple of weeks now with a P4 2.6C. The CPU is running at 3.3 GHz so the FSB is at 254 MHz. It's rock stable in Prime95. Seems like a really nice board, and I'm not an Abit fan at all. I believe that in Anand's new i865PE/i875P shootout, the got the IS7 up to 278 MHz. BTW, he also picked as the best buy out of all of them. Here's a link (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.html?i=1831&p=30) to the last page. On this page (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.html?i=1831&p=23) the overclocking results are shown.

The review over at [H] stated they got 301fsb out of it, and another site reported 303fsb, same as they maxed on the IC7.

Wow that is very impressive. The IS7 sounds like a great deal.

yes, I agree that the abit IS7 is a great mobo.

I just can't think why it would hold you back at 250fsb.

it may not have PAT, but the mobo is still fast.

I still look at all review sites with a grain of salt...
but I can't find a bad reason not to get the IS7.

good luck at what ever you do get.

at those high fsb you can't use the mem enhancement usually, and the ic7 will out preform it by about 3% fairly consistently. Either way you go you have a killer mobo. Seems like with the new bioses the p4p800 got completely passed by both abit boards.

i went from p4p800, and now i am getting one of these, probably the ic7, $40 doesn't hurt me and i am pelt cooling, and i need the absolute best.:D
