View Full Version : Best Quality Performance but Blk 19"CRT
I have read all of the other 19" crt threads in this forum but i haven't seen any Black 19"crts? Can anyone recommend me a one which i won't be disaapointed with. Im after a good quality and reliable one which also looks attractive.TY
Directron (http://www.directron.com/m992.html) sells black Dell 19" crt's. I was just looking at them last night. Nice small dot pitch too ( .243 )
$163 bucks ain't a bad price too (sale).
Viewsonic G90FB
you can usually get it at dell the cheapest since they have free shipping. usually their price is cheaper also.
I use a NEC FE990-BK, an awesome monitor, kind of expensive but well worth it.
Thanks for the suggestions, Maxvia is there any difference between G90FB and G90FB-2 besides the Dot pitch .25 to .21? My budget would be around $600 Au$ ($300-350 US) so anything else on the market worth a look that could be better. TY
i didn't realize there was such a model.
i had been shopping for a 19 inch crt and had decided on that one until i went with a 17" LCD panel.
I too was willing to get a LCD but decided against until they get better and a little cheaper. Yeah the G90FB-2 seems to have a lower dot pitch at 0.21mm but i can't see any other differences. Still a bit cautious on what to get as i don't buy one every day !!!TY

How about the Viewsonic P95F+B? This is their pro series monitor and I find the picture quality is notably better than the G90. Newegg has them for $270, so it should be in your price range.

Samsung SyncMaster 955DF
I just bought my second BLACK one from yesmicro.com (current resellerrating champion)... I LOVE this monitor.
All the Monitors mentioned here i'll have a look at, as i'm in no rush really. I like the Mitsubishi/NECs and Sony seems good but have read conflicting reports, Viewsonic is good too. Hmmm decisions decisions that Sammy 955DF also lookz good. One thing though, are the two wires that hold up the aperture grill in the pro monitors really that annoying (or are they hardly visible)? I use this PC mainly for entertainment (mp3s, Games) as well as a bit of video editiing and Java programming. TY guys

I don't think they are annoying but it did take a good month for me to quit noticing them.
They are least noticeable in games, most obvious in office apps.

Yeah, but we're all pedants around these parts!
Seriously though it was the same for me. In Word or Excel they're practically beacons on a white background. In games you will never know they're there. Couple that with the superior performance that Trinitron screens and their ilk offer, and I say it's a fine compromise. One more excuse not to do work and play a game.

Bah, they are not really noticeable at all. I have used a 17inch Trinitron for years, and I don't even see them anymore. you can't see them on anything but a really light background, and even then you will very rarely notice them after awhile.
Most of sony's monitors (including tv's) are being manufactured in Taiwan or Malaysia, not Japan and their quality control is down. I used to have the Trinitron with the 2 lines and it was pretty annoying. I have a Viewsonic 19" and am really happy with it.
The dot pitch and refresh rate is the most important feature to look at when getting large monitors. Smaller dot pitch and faster refresh rates will lessen the chance for you to get headaches and dizzyness while on your computer.

I was just about to place an order for one of these P95f+ B with the supplier warning me his experiences with this monitor is a lot of blurriness and not worth it? Did he just have bad luck or......?.

From what I have heard, the P90f works very well for games, and poorly for everything else. Check out the reviews on cnet
Do you mean p95f+, haven't seen a p90f nor want one.
