I have an A7V333 Version 1.04 and I want to upgrade to a 2800+ barton, but I dont know for sure I f my moterboard supports 333fsb or not. I cant get Asus to answer me and there website gives no clear answer. Can anyone hear gimme an answer???

What bios are you on?I think 1018 is latest.I have 1.02 rev a7v333 with 1017 and thought I could not use Bartons but some folk have their earlier ie less than rev2 mobos running 333fsb chips fine-so short answer is it might work and it might not-flash to latest bios and try; as Asus dont officially supprort 333s.I have a xp2400 in mine which boots fine at 13 x 169 so far =2.2ghz I would say try it and if not youll have to shell out a bit for a different mobo.

I have a 1.04 that doesn't work at 333, but like Busy said it may or may not. Really no way to know unless you try. It wasn't until the rev2 that they started supporting a 333fsb. With the latest BIOS those are suppose to support the Bartons aswell.

Hey thanks guys looks like Im going to stick with the 2400 cause all I have to spend right now is about 100 bucks. I appreciate all the advice.

my A7V333 rev1.04 ran a Barton 2500+ briefly to test. I didn't put it through any paces, but it booted into Win2k fine and showed up as a Barton in CPUZ. I'm using the 1018 beta 001 BIOS. Seems good so far. :)

I am currently running my A7V333 @ 170 mhz FSB. It's quite stable up to 185-190, and then it flakes out. That could be due to my PC2700 memory as well though. And by stable, I mean it runs Prime 95 for 24 hours with no errors. For reference, I am using a 0312 Tbred B 1700 @ 170X12.

My board rev is 1.04

Also for reference, the board refuses to run ANY cpu much past 2.15 with any stability, no matter the FSB or multi, so it is a little flakey I guess. I am sure my CPU has a few more mhz left in it.

I'm running a 2500+ on a rev 1.01 with a 1016 BIOS. Very stable. Only thing I've noticed is a few glitches in the onboard sound. And like ras0469, things peak out around 2.1Ghz. He can do a better FSB than me however. According to ASUS, the Bartons are not supported on this MB until the pcb rev 2.0

I'm selling this MB soon so I can see the real potential of the 2500+
