i have never flashed a bios before i have asus a7n8x none delux rev 2.0 1003 bios
can anyone tell me how to do it or post me a link where i can learn about it!

is it worth flashing?(i'm overclocked) which bios would go with my board?

1004 or 1005?

and if something go wrong can i go back to my old bios?

thanks guys

Just use ASUS UPDATE and flash in widows. Its a piece of cake, and much better then doing it with a floppy.

asus update will only flash your bios

i've used asus update without any problems more than 20 times but i highly recommend you DO NOT USE IT

Set yourself up for doing it both ways.

Get your floppy setup ready to go....
but try the flash util 1st.

That way if it doesn't work the 1st time, you have a back up.

That's what I had to do.

Read how to do it until you understand it.

Good Luck.

If your O/S install is good Asus Update is just as safe as flashing from DOS. I've been using Asus update since BIOS 1005 for the A7V333, and still use it on my A7N8X. It's been well over 50 flashes and even do it fully overclocked. :)

Thats nice.
I'm very happy it worked for you.

Mine does'nt work at all though.

And it's better to safe than sorry.

We're trying to help Wolf out here,
& I'd really hate to see him Uber something that could
have been prevented.

if you try and fail with asus update you may have to get another bios chip or hot flash your current one, it's not worth the risk with this board imo

there are a few ways to TRY to recover from a bad flash but they don't always work

i don't worry about flashing anymore since i got me a bios savior :p

That's cool. I need 1 of those.
I've tried the Asus Flasher a couple of times...
none worked. I read about it & figured it out, then
tried it & failed.
But I was able to use the disk afterwards.

Makes no difference, as long as you get one of 'em to work.
You really only need to flash it maybe 1 or 2 times before
you're ready to upgrade anyway.

Where'd you get the BIOS savior?

it's better to flash from a floppy...using the right switches, you can do a clean install...i've read that asus update can leave "traces" of the old bios....i don't know...i've used it with no problems but i've since gone to flashing from a floppy.....
