KT7A v1.3 & XP 2200+ Tbred A not work

I have a system composed by a motherboard ABIT KT7A v1.3 with BIOS 65 with a CPU Athlon XP 2200+ Tbred A (AIUGA stepping) but the system no boot (no beeps, no POST, no VGA).

I have discarded problems in the rest of the hardware and it seems to be an incompatibility between the CPU and the motherboard.

That I can make to solve it?

Has somebody been successful with both elements?

I need help.

A 2200+ Tbred-A may not be fast enough to run on that board after a cmos reset. The KT7A defaults to its 12+ multiplier on seeing a T-bred, but due to the 5th L3 bridge on the T-bred 16 half steps are added to what the motherboard specifies for a multiplier, resulting in 20x100 or 2.0GHz. A 2200+ T-bred B could reach this goal without problem, but a T-bred A would not.

Here is a possible solution if you still have your old CPU:

Reinstall your old cpu (reseting cmos if needed) and enter bios.

Adjust the cpu to something around a 900 or 1000MHz Thunderbird (100 fsb) from the pre-programmed modes -- DO NOT SET 9x100 manually!!! Save and exit bios and shut down the system.

Remove the old cpu and install the new one -- DO NOT RESET CMOS.

It should then boot at up to 1.8GHz (if you selected 1000MHz T-bird) which is the stock speed of the cpu.

Any time you have to reset cmos, you will have to repeat this process.
