Hey I am looking for some help on deciding between the 2800 barton with the 512 cashe or the 2700 tbred. I would like to overclock and have herd that both processors are decent. The 2700 is about $45 cheaper. Are the 2700 processors multipliers unlocked? I plan on buying either the abit nf7-s or the asus A7N8X deluxe. What does everyone think? I could use some help here.

Well with the NF7-S or the A7N8X deluxe you would be able to have unlocked multipliers iirc...

But if you have the money then go for the 2800+! Most people prefer the 2500 becuase it is under 100 I think now.

Welcome to the boards, and I think this should be under General Computer Related Discussion :D

I run my 2500 at 2800 speeds on my ASUS A7N8X delux, it even post saying barton 2800+. I may blow the bridges to get the higher multis, as I know it will hit 2.3 easy.

ok well maybe i will get a 2500+ barton processor then, should i just go OEM and buy a hs/fan (if so what would ya'll suggest) or retail and get the stock hs/fan

get the barton 2500+ instead since you can overclock it to 2800+ speeds easy and even higher

DON'T BUY THE A7N8X

go for the abit nf7-s, that board loves to be overclocked

2500+ $90
nf7 / nf7-s $102/$123

my 2500+ can hit 2300mhz (3400+?) on speeze falconrock heatsink...2800 is a waste of money if you're willing to overclock

remember not to try and overclock the Barton with stock hs. I suggest using a slk-800 or sk7 for the barton if you don't already own one.
