Hey I am looking for some help on deciding between the 2800 barton with the 512 cashe or the 2700 tbred. I would like to overclock and have herd that both processors are decent. The 2700 is about $45 cheaper. Are the 2700 processors multipliers unlocked? I plan on buying either the abit nf7-s or the asus A7N8X deluxe. Finally…I just bought 2 sticks of pc2700 512MB crucial memory. Will this be sufficient for either of these mobo’s and overclocking?

pc2700 will be enough but pc3200 is better!

i'd actually go for a barton 2500+

these things have been running between 2.2 to 2.4 ghz which isn't too bad at all...

if you check the overclockers.com cpu database for teh 2500+, you'll see the average speed is around 2.3 ghz which is not too bad at all...

i'd go with a barton 2500+ instead of the 2800+... save the money and upgrade your ram

You can see by both our signatures which mobo shimmishim and I recommend :D

That PC2700 isn't rated for the 200/400 plus FSBs. You might want to try getting PC3200 or PC3500 instead if you plan on going much past 166/333 FSB.

I like the XP1700 DLT3C Tbred B as it will O/C up to 2400 on high-end air cooling in most cases with an Abit NF7-S rev2. You can get 'em very cheap now.

Good god, whatever you do do NOT buy the Asus motherboard. Check over at the Asus board forum and see how many disgruntled 3 time RMAers (that would be me) there are.
