My cpu fan is randomly stopping.....

It's a brand new fan, and it will just stop for like 10 seconds then continue.

It's the thermaltake 92mm high performance case fan. It's plugged into the motherboard header.


Why would it be doing this?
 
Umm, maybe cause you ARE NOT suppose to have that kind of fan plugged in to the motherboard, plug it in a 3-4pin adapter and it should work fine. It is taking to much power from the motherboard header, and it cant supply it. (most likely your problem) You know you are probably lucky you didnt burn out your mobo.
 
I've never seen that happen because of a mobo header, but either way you need to get that thing on a molex man!

Just leave the rpm wire on the header and splice the other two into the back of their correct molex partners.
 
It doesn't exceed the watts that can be supplied.......oh well, I'll put it on a molex.
