lapping zalman cnps7000 -alcu??

lapping zalman cnps7000 -alcu?? has anyone done it, results, recommend?...i'm asking because the base of the hsf seems to be half copper and half aluminum and i'm not sure if its good to lap if they are welded together like that.
 
from looking at the base in pictures the base looks really good stock

don't lap if you don't have to
I don't think you would need to in this case
 
I tried lapping one of my old AMD coolers a couple years ago and found it litterally did jack so I havent had the slightest urge to do it again.
 
lapping works, but on a zalman product, GOODLUCK! Those things are machined to perfection. PERFECT
 
I would be more worried about all the metal-dust getting between the tightly packed fins around the base, you won't get all of that out...
