View Full Version : 21" CRT with DVI?
does anyone know if there are any 21" CRT monitors that use a DVI connector? I want to upgrade my monitor and want to get something with a DVI connector since that's better than the analog connector however i've only seen LCD with DVI and while I love my LCD I want to go to a bigger monitor meaning a higher native resolution and I don't want to be stuck in 1600x1200 for everything as from my experience running below native reso looks blury, so I want to go back to CRT.

The problem with DVI is that it maxes out on bandwidth around 1600x1200 resolution. If you look at really high end LCD and plasma displays, you will see that they use 4 DVI inputs to generate 3200x2400 resolution.
A good 21" monitor should do 1940x1440 and a higher end sony will do 2048x1536 -- well above the limits for DVI signals.
CRT's are analog, so an analog signal is OK.
LCD's driven off of an analog signal have to convert the signal back to digital.
ahh, ok, I didn't know that, that's probably why I never saw one then, all the CRT's I was looking at maxed out at higher than 1600x1200.
