NEWBIE QUESTION - lapping

I hear all ya say " I lap this" " I lap that" wha do u mean by lapping????

Its been asked a few times, but the main gist is your sand your heatsink down so the surface is smooth so it can make better contact with the core.

Not necessarily smooth, but flat. There are a few threads on this first page with posts detailing how to lap.

If you are just interested in the basics, then SS and nerd explained it for you.
