Hi, I have a Linksys BEFSR41 Router. It was given to me, but I want to use it, and When i go to try to get in the options and configuration of it, it prompts me for a password... I opened it up to see if there was like a BIOS or memory battery but i didnt see one. Is ther any way i can erase the old pword or bypass it... Thanks!

Maybe change the password to blank? Might still get the login box though.

if it has been unplugged for an hour or so then it will have the default password... admin ...

Look for the reset switch, hold it in for 30 seconds.

User=leave blank
Pass=admin

If it's linksys you could look the model up on their site, they have the manuals online ;).

There should be a hard reset switch on the router too. Find that, unplug the power. Hold the switch in and plug the power back in (still holding it). Continue to hold it about 30 seconds or so. You SHOULD be able to just push the switch, but doing the above should do a more thorough hard reset of it. It's worth trying anyways.

dont forget though it will still have the admin password after you reset it

username - administrator
password - admin

that's what it is on my router by default at least

That is the correct way for all default linksys routers...

Or you could go to the Linksys site and look up the manual for it:D That way you can learn everything about it;)

RTFM is the only way to do it.

Just do it.

Well, there should be a way to reset the admin password when you're in front of it. With most routers a hard reset will do that. Powering off and on won't, but using the button should. The manual should tell you for sure.

A very small hole on the front beside the lights for using to do a hard reset. Use a straightened out paper clip to do this. Then user= leave blank and pass is admin
