Ok, so I'm thinking about building a 4 board SETI cruncher. I would make the case from scratch out of acrylic. I'm gonna pickup four old identical video cards...probably something like a Stealth64. Each board will probably only have 64 MB PC2700. I also plan on using 4 PSU's unless someone has a better idea. As for HD's I would get some older 4.3 giggers or something. The only parts that need to be high tech are the board, memory and chip. What I want to know is what is the smallest Athlon XP mobo I could get that also has LAN? I know there are the ITX boards, but don't they all have their own chips...nothing near fast enough? Plus something like a micro ATX would probably be cheaper.

Agreed.

Take the savings from:
4 CD drives
4 Hard Drives
4 Floppy drives
4 Monitors
4 Smaller power supplies

And use them to build 6 more nodes for a diskless cruncher!

MOBO size? I'm using the M7VKQ which is 19.8 X 24.4 CM in size.
If you want to use DDR ram, then the M7VIG is 24.4 X 24.4 CM in size.
