View Full Version : A woman's view on Diablo II

well boys I must say that my expectations of the game
is not what I thought it would be. I thought that there would be more "worlds" to play in. you know a hole new adventure. something that would keep me occupied while Mr. mudguts makes all kinds of noise in the back. Some of the items are cool and there really anything better than turning into a werewolf, or kicking something in the face a few times. I did finish the game again and it was like no big deal. I mean dying my hair pink was a lot more exciting than defeating baal. So there you have it
Thank you for listening

I don't play it and my friends wife does and she loves it. do you play online? I think the single player is kinda weak. she says she gets marriage proposals every day!

play UT!

Well, I've never played Diablo or Diablo II....so, I can't say...but, yeah, like el says, try out UT..or even Q3...nothing like a frag to relieve a little tension...and online is soooooooo much more fun!!

btw...Mrs Mudguts, why don't you just create your own username for the forum? We need some more women around here...I'm feeling outnumbered :)

You are outnumbered!

Anyone read Penny Arcade? They had a funny comic about women who play Quake online here. (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2000-11-17)

And Mrs. Mudguts, it'd be nice of you to join us. Before too long we might think that Mudguts is having an identity crisis. :D

As for D2, yeah I was disappointed by the expansion pack. They added two new characters, and some different items. Ooh, boy, get my juices flowing. It would have been nice to have a few more worlds added. But I do like playing online. The multiplayer aspect is pretty good, especially since it's free. My two roomies and I get online with friends from across town, and beat down some undead. Maybe we could get online together sometime (meaning all of us, not just me and Mrs. Mudguts).

I am glad to see more ladies taking a interest in the Forums. I have only seen a few females post in the forums and Missy welcome to the Forums :) Happy Posting. I can see arguements happening why this Overclock did not work or whatever happen between a couple that goes to this forum. It would be quite funny in my opinion. :)

So, Missy, do you, uh, Quake Naked? (http://www.penny-arcade.com/view.php3?date=2000-11-17) (No, it's not a porno site, or anything bad. Well, it IS Penny Arcade, and they do sometimes get bad!)

In all honesty, it IS good to see more women (ladies? female?) taking an interest in computers, and techincal thingys. I know I get all excited anytime my woman asks me about anything technical, or relating to my computer. Which is rare, so I cherish the moments.

So, Missy, do you have your own rig, or are you borrowing Mudguts? If you don't have your own rig, BUILD ONE! Women are always talking about how they want to have kids so they can have their hand in the creation process, and have something to call their own. But a PC won't wake you up in the middle of the night for feedings. It'll just make sure you don't go to bed at all with late night online games. In fact, if you wanna join me for one sometime, gimmie a hollar. I'm usually on D2 thursday nights pretty late, but it tends to be a private game. So lemmie know if you wanna join me sometime (it's an open invitation to anyone, really. Just contact me first so I can get you the game name and password).

hey there oc wa11y-
I'm not a oc'r but I do help mudguts in his adventures of building his rig and all. I get to help like what color to paint, and on some of his smaller projects I help try to come up with ways of making them work and all. But if I was to build my own, then I wouldn't have what little space in my kitchen I already have. Along with playing d2 all the time and other stuff, I just don't have the time.
I'm sure many people on this site can relate to me about having a computer parts where house/work room, testing area, garage, and kitchen all in one room. let me know when you want to play d2, I'm up for it.
Oh, do I have my own rig? well lets just what's his is mine :)

Wa11y

Well, I was going to be getting on about 11pm MT or so, and playing until the sun comes up, or whenever I run out of Dr. Pepper to keep me awake. If you want me to PM you the game password and name, let me know before then. I'll check my PM and this post before then. If anyone else wants to join me, that's cool, but I'd rather not have seven thousand overclockers playing on one game. But I'll take two or three people.

Be nice, but I'm a level 25 Paladin, still on act three. I'll be playing a bit with my roomies beforehand, so I should be in act four by tonight.

what an interesting thread! here's my 2 cents regarding an issue wally brought up earlier:

[sligh's g/f]: (having momentary lapse of sanity) so, I'm thinking to get a new processor, what should i get, hon?

[sligh]: Well, dear, that all depends on what your aim is, you see, I'm cheap so I always stick to the celerons and overclock em as much as I can, save building a water exchange unit, I mean some of these guys have some sick ways of freezing a chip! no, peltier's a comfy limit for me, and even then you'd have to worry about condensation, so, you should ask yourself, 'self, am i going to be moving this box around a lot?' if so then i'd just stick with a heatsink that has a nice clampon the other hand you mostly use your box for MS Office right? Athlons o/c pretty well and they're ideal for that stuff, plus you should see a mail merge fly @ 266 MHz [excerpted geek babbling...]

[sligh's g/f]: (turns on the n64)

[sligh]: [more babble...]

[sligh's g/f]: (finishes FF 9)

[sligh]: ...so you can see it all comes down to a price/performance ratio, just ask yourself, 'self, what's the most significant improvement i can get for the least dollars?' and while we're thinking that way, you may well realize that getting a faster chip for $100 won't help nearly as much as tripling your RAM for $50 getting a hs/f, o/cing your current chip and doing a fresh install of windows... [ad infinitum]

[sligh's g/f]: (in bed dreaming of Al Jurgensen] >_<

See, I try and keep it at the level of the person I'm talking to. If someone asks me what kind of processor they should get, I ask them what for, and how much. Then I'll usually tell them to get a Duron or T-bird, or whatever. If they ask why, THEN I'll explain. But I know that not everyone is as into computers as I am, so I try not to bore or confuse them with some long-winded explaination as to why AMD is better than Intel, or why you should overclock. I just tell them what they need to know.

As for my view, I'll make it really short...btw online is the only way to go for diablo 2...

First time I played, got real good, botted, later hacked, make the godliest rings, became very rich...then BAM all accounts banned..I lost it all..o well

Started again about 5 months ago and became very rich again...botting too lol...became godliest pally on east, and now I quit because I don't like it that much, gets old, same stuff over and over, now I'm selling my stuff on ebay to make $$

Umm diablo II isnt that great single player, try playing online, or in Hardcore, thats where the real fun / skill comes into play, most cant do it.
I had lots of fun with the game.

It's 'cause the search is fubared, and they don't know it, and don't check thread dates.

But I have to give them credit. They ARE at least using the search, after all :)

LOL, this happens a few times a year. I read every one of them. Even though the thread is "only" three years old, it is centuries old when thinking in game terms. I fire up D2 every 6 months or so, spend 3-4 nights beating it and then retire it again for another 6 months or so. Its a classic.

Yep, that Diablo II, sure is a nice game with some awesome graphics, dunno if my rig will run it though, I might have to upgrade to an X800 Pro, and I might have to hit 4 Ghz with a Prommie so I can have enough processing power for it... :D

Diablo is kind of what you make it anymore I play it once in a while and sometimes get hooked back onto it. But like everyone else said the real fun is online there are tons of people willing to trade off times and makes it much quicker getting soemthing good. With the addition of the runes things get a little more interesting you can create extremely powerfull items. But unfortunatly blizzard just didn't do enough with that game. If you wana try a game Dungen siege was actualy really good. The only really bad part about it is that microsoft didnt make the gameplay hard enough in the harder levels. Not to mention that the online gameplay is nill, insecure, laggy, and down right disapointing.

Oh well I like warcraft they add some very exciting factors into that one.
