Okay, I'm using an HP S70 17 inch monitor. Just today I switched the resolution to 1024 X 768 from 800 X 600. When I made the switch, the screen was very shakey and the picture would not stay in one place. I probably kept it at 1024 X 768 for about 5 mintues until I turned it back down to 800 X 600. When I turned the resolution back down, the screen started to shake a little on my regular resolution and then it stopped adn everything looked fine. About 5 minutes later I smelled the nice aroma of flying electronics so I quickly turned the monitor off before it burst into a spectacular display of smoke and flames. Could the reason that it started to fry be because of me turning up the resolution or what do you guys think caused it. The monitor is rated at a maximum resolution of 1280 X 1024 at 60 hertz. So if anyone could help me figure out this mystery then I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Michael.

Man! That sucks!

If you smelled burning electronics, chances are that it is dying. How old is the monitor? From the sounds of your rez, about 2 years?

Could someone else help me with this problem. It really confused me as to why it stopped working. I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Michael
