Hi,
I just found that my front panel fan was spinning at just 1600 RPM today..
So I took it out and tested it, 2800 RPM
When it put it back in.. it was 1600 again!

There is nothing touching the fan or its blades

I wiped the fan and panel clean.. tried again.. stil no luck... stil 1600 RPM

What could be causing this drop of 1200 RPM!

Any help would be appreciated
Thanks!

When you test it outside the case, there's nothing restricting it's airflow, inside your case there is.

when i put the fan on the case, and do not screw it in.. and pull it around 5mm away from the case, the rpm goes back to normal, but when it is against the case the rpm drops again

The opening is very open, almost nothing restricting airflow...

And bedies, even if something did, it will affect the airflow and not the rpm of the fan...

try using some spacers and make a cardboard shroud between the fan and the panel. I bet you could regain some of the lost speed.

If there is restriction it 'will' effect the rpm of the fan also.

if anything, restriction actually makes it spin faster. go on, try it.

try wiggling the wire. might be a loos connection.
