NF7-S manual doesn't specify. I'd like to use the motherboards fan connectors because I could control them with Speedfan. For CPU I will going to have 0.24A 80mm cooler. That's ok with motherboard connectors. But for case I will have 0.42A 120mm cooler and I'm not sure if a connector can handle that much. I see that chassis fan header is very near to the ATX-connector. Will it help with this matter?

Be very careful with the fan that pulls .42amps. I would recommend getting some 4 pin to 3 pin adapters and run those fans off the atx power supply. I had an asus tusl2-c board that a tech assured me could power 80mm .45amp thermaltake case fans using the front and rear fan headers. I had my doubts, but took his word for it. He was wrong and they fried the fan headers on the board. Luckily I had just recently bought the board from them so they replaced it. Good luck.

I read somewhere that fan headers on Abit KT7 and KT7A supply up to 0.5A. I wonder if someone has hard facts on maximum amperage/wattage Abit NF7-S fan headers can handle.

Thanks for the info james! I'll put the 120mm on the mobo too and control it with software. It's 5W fan at full speed, but I'm not going to run it full speed ever (except booting) :) I just wish they sold Smart fan II's here, only way to buy one would be buying it with Volcano (11?).

"Be very careful with the fan that pulls .42amps."
My P4 Dell has a 0.68A fan running off the mobo, and since Dell has been doing this for a long time, it must be safe.

my gigabyte boards manual says that i shouldnt run anymore than 0.6 amp through either of the fan connectors. that seems to be about the limit for most boards so i wouldnt try to run more on any board.
heh, my delta eats 1.3 amps, wonder what would happen if i run it off my mobo?
*bzzt*

If you have to ask, you shouldn't do it ;)

That about sums up my feelings on motherboard headers... IMHO I wish they'd take them all off and just have a 1 wire pin for CPU RPM gauges...
