I finally had all my components in front of me and resolve that last night was the night I would assemble my dream machine (cue frankenstein music).

This is how it began.

Freshly armed with the knowledge aquired over the last month (thaks to everyone on this board!) I carefully cleared my dining room table and began opening packages and double checking my inventory.
This is what I had in front of me:

Enlight 7237 w/ 300w dual case fans
Abit kt7a raid
1 ghz t-bird
256m micron ram
radeon 32m ddr
sb live
16x dvd rom
2- ibm deskstar 45 gig
(cd burner backordered!)
win fop 32 hsf
arctic silver
floppy drive

and 1 large ever-loving pile of empty boxes

Carefully I started to install all of my components and surprisingly (you don't know my luck) everything seemed to go off without a hitch! (man those L1 bridges are really TINY!!!)

So after about 45 mins of nervous anticipation I plugged in and powered on.....

Holy cow **** Batman it works!!!
Before I decided to do any OC yet I went through all the Bios and felt like I was familiar ( i have read the handbook a couple times since receiving it). I loaded my os and sat back satisfied for a minute.

I ran sandra to get a baseline of my numbers before I did any real damage (hehe)
Here is the strange part:
After rebooting I selected the pc health option and wanted to look at my temps, much to my surprise my cpu temp was 39c running idle with the side of the case off! Now is it me or it that a little too high?

I turned off and double checked the hsf/cpu reapplying the grease and it seemed fine.

Whats the deal here. Before I turn up the pain on the tbird I wanna make sure this is acceptable temps for an idle. Seemed high to me.

As soon as I get this straightened out I will tune her up and post some sandras.. Thanks Again Everyone for all your help!!!

yea thats safe...
for a celeron/p3 the warning level is 40 and shutdown is 50
the athlons run real hot, so do the durons...
so they're about 11 more then the P3 competition...
so around 50 is warning and 60 is shutdown for these chips...
actully, they're supposted to be safe up to around 70c, ut thats just too damned hot...
so you're in the clear! crank it up man!! wanna see the results from this...

Ok I just was a little concerned with 39 @ idle w/ case open (compared to other temps i see posted here)

I guess I will proceed conservatively keeping an eye on temps all the while.
