Is ATI cards (OEM ones) using 3/4 cards for 9700 boards?
I was under the impression that the 9700np, 9700pro, and 9800pro came with full length PCB's. Has anyone seen a 9700 come on what looks to be a 9500pro board (I have one of those in my work machines).
I have not open this new package yet to install it as it's for a family members machine I am building and want to make sure I got what I ordered for them.
Is there a way to tell if a ATI OEM is a 9700 and not a 9500 pro under visual inspection?

if you take the heat sink off you can tell. or you can run it and see how it benches. a fill rate test should be able to seperate the men from the boys.
to do a fillrate test download 3d mark 2001 and tell it to only run the fillrate tests.
the most apparent way to tell if it was a 9700 and not a 9500 would be to look at the memory. if it's L shaped it's a 9700 if not it's a 9500. only problem is that some 9500's are L shaped. but if you don't have an L shaped PCB than you most likely have a 9500.

If it's a ATi, the aux power connector is in a diff place isn't it? The 9700 has it at the corner, where the 9500 Pro has it halfway across the card....

Well it looks to be a 9700!! I didn't think the online retailer would have done a bait and switch since they are a very repectable shop but I was just confused.
The memory is Infineon 3.3ns memory in a L configuration (just like my 9500 Pro at side glance as I can't take out of the case right now). The aux power is the top of the card. Still have a few more things to check but the shaders test seems to confirm it is a 9700. I will run that one on my system with the 9500pro and double check it.
O'well, chalk one up for inexperience with ATI hardware as it looks just like my Saphire 9500pro so it confused the hell out of me.
