View Full Version : A Few O/C Questions
I recently bought a 1Ghz Thunderbird Socket CPU, and I am wondering if the "Pencil Trick" is necessary to unlock the CPU? Is there any other way to go about unlocking it? Also What are the safe temperatures that the CPU should be operating under? When I ought the CPU they said to put a pin drop of thermal grease on it, should I put more? That sounds conservative! Also, I have a Super Orb CPU cooler that is louder than heak and I don't know if it is doing much good. What is the best CPU cooler to go with? Also, does anyone have experience with peltiers? I am considering one, but would like to know if it will do any good and if the condensation risk is much of a factor? Any information you may have would be greatly appriciated.
You could start doing some OCíng by increasing the FSB speed. For that you do not have to unlock your processor. I think with your mobo your FSB speed is standard 133 mhz. Try to see how far you can get it up.
If you want to increase your multiplier, you have to unlock the L1 bridges at your TBird 1000. You have to connect the bridges vertically by means of a pencill or F.g. silver 'inkt' out of a car window defroster kit. Be careful that you do not connect the bridges horizontally!!!! You can try to prevent this from happening by putting a small knife along the bridge you want to connect. If you are going to use a pencil, go over the bridges thouroughly.
The maximum temperature, as a rule of thumb, should not exceed 50 degrees C. If it exceeds that level, you should start looking for another cooler. good luck!!!
