I got a dvd bare drive. My Capture card came with software to edit DVDs and then I paid them $50 more to get my videos onto a "true" DVD.

Now I'd like to start putting data on DVDs simply because the disks cost 2x and hold 7x compared to CD. I gather I need to spend more money. WinXP won't touch 'em.

What's a decent software? All I want to do is put data on (I can already read it off normally). Multisession is a definite plus but not technically required for my purposes. I don't want to spend much money... more as an act of defiance than anything else. I hate these guys about now and will deny them any penny I (legally) can.

Usually, the CD burning software will have the drive strings for DVD burners. Have you tried getting the latest update for your CDR software?

I've been using WinXP built-in software ever since I upgraded to XP.

That works well for CDRs and basic data, but for DVDRs go with either Roxio or Nero. Just check the sites for drive support. If you can get an early version, it may be upgradeable, but make sure before you buy.

I figured it out.

Newegg + Roxio6 OEM = $17

Sheesh they have to make it so difficult!
