View Full Version : I ran wcpuid today and i found out that my ram was running on 100mhz!! but i have 133mhz ram. plz he
I ran wcpuid today and i found out that my ram was running on 100mhz!! but i have 133mhz ram. i got a abit kt7 and 2 128mb 133mhz ram. is there some place in bios i can set the ram speed?
If your motherboard is running at 100Mhz then so is your RAM. 133MHz RAM will only run at 133 on a FSB of 133MHz UNLESS you have the ability to change the host clock of your memory as I do on my Soyo 7VCA. There may be a setting to change the host clock to a +33 setting in there. If you have this, set it there and you're good to go.
Just having 133MHz RAM doesn't mean it will automatically run at that speed...that's just its rated speed.
then i have to buy the abit kt7A? that board supports 133mhz ram?
and thx for the fast response!!!

Yes, the KT7 can run the RAM at 133 MHz. The KT133 chipset supports asynchronous timings.
I have an A7V and run my RAM at 33 MHz faster than the CPU FSB.
Your manual should have the settings listed for what to change in bios.
The only setting for ram i can find is: SDRAM 8/10ns, normal, medium, fast and turbo. Mine is set to turbo still not 133mhz.
you do not have to buy a new motherboard to run your ram at 133mhz, tomas! the kt7 definitely supports the option to run your memory at a fsb+pci setting. i'm not sure where it is, but read your motherboard manual carefully and you'll find out where to do it.
i think perhaps you're confusing memory speed with frontside bus. if so, and you want to run at a fsb of 133, then yes, you'll have to upgrade to the kt7a (or any kt133a chipset mobo).
I have looked at the manual now and cant find any setting for the memory speed.
Nope its not the frontbus. wcpuid says: system bus 200mhz. system clock 100mhz and memory 256 Mbyte 100mhz. and after i overclocked it 109,18mhz, 218,3 system bus and 109,18 system clock.
btw its the non raid MB
i got this from ABIT's webpage (http://http://www.abit.com.tw/english/product/motherboards/kt7.htm) on the KT7: '..4. Supports 100/133MHz Memory Bus Settings..'
that board definitely does support it. i don't have a kt7 to tell you exactly where it is, but it is there. ask rob cork or azzkicker... they both own kt7s.
Hi,I think what your looking for is on page 3-7 in your owners manual, look for DRAM clock.

in the SoftMenu III part of your bios, set "DRAM timing" to "HCLOCK+PCICLK" which means it's running at your FSB plus your PCI Clock (33 MHz). Which also means if you are running your FSB at 133, your ram would run at 166. be careful with this setting. I have had to discharge my CMOS at least twice because I upped FSB to 133 with lower multiplier, and obviously, generic CAS2 PC100 is not going to do 166 MHz, pretty much no matter what.

JS is right, if we're talking about the same board it should be on page 3-7 it's listed under DRAM Clock, it's probably set to "Default" you should set it to 133. Make sure it isn't set to 100. Normally Default is set to whatever is in the mobo. but it may not be in this case. Good luck!
hmm there i found it!!!:) Thx for the help
after i got it too 133mhz i got these results in sisoft sandra2001: int ALU/RAM bandwith 520MB/s and float FPU/RAM bandwith 588MB/s. Is these result good or bad?

Not bad at all :)
i had to put it back to 100mhz:( because when i played a svcd it would freeze. tought it was because i oc my fsp to 109 1.1@1.2 so i tried to run it at default speed it would freeze before i got loaded win2k:( so i had to put it back to 100mhz and now it runs stable at 1.2ghz too so i dunno. The ram was the cheapest one they had
