Overclocking

I have a compaq 5240 (hey don't laugh) with an AMD 400mhz overclockable to 550. I tried to OC to 450, 500, and 550, but the cooling fan would not start up and the computer would not start.
Any suggestions?

Throw it away and get a new one?? HEHE Just Kiddin. On your setup you are probably maxed out right where you are.
