I was at London Drugs yesterday and noticed they had a new hp notebook that some guy was setting up that said AthlonXP on it. I was like sooo what speed is that CPU.

According to the little features list sticker, it says the notebook features a 400MHz FSB and a 3000+ Athlon XP-M Processor with 512KB of L2 cache.

My question is, is this information inaccurate??? I thought labtops cant do 400MHZ FSB.

BTW, the Labtop was $2499 which isnt too shabby :)

EDIT: Just checked AMD's website and it appears that the AthlonXP -M is available only up to 2800+. Is this a pre launch maybe?

I haven't heard a peep about 400mhz fsb laptops, or 3000+ M's either. Furthermore, HP doesn't sell any laptops with anything higher than a 2600+. Looks like a scam to me.

Does look like scam.
But is it possible they're running a normal XP in laptop? Not an XP-M?

That still wouldn't explain the 400mhz fsb. Besides, and vendor that is putting in an unsupported processor into a laptop and then marketing it as an XP-M shouldn't be trusted.

Well I DON'T trust HP anymore. They're quality has gone down ever since they merged with compaq. I think the company has gotten too big for them to manage well.

It be a scam!!

Do they have the laptop out for you to use? Then you could sneek in whatcha macallit... GPUCID on a floppy or CD, and take a picture of what it reports with a T-Mobile Camera Phone! :P
