View Full Version : What do you think of this for connecting the L1 bridges?
I would like to thank Kev for introducing me to this product which I plan to try soon. What do you think about it? Has anyone tried it? It looks good to me! Worth a try at least! http://www.plycon.com/trace.htm

Try it, it looks good to me. At least it will be easilly removed if it doesnt work and inexpensive. Also no possibility of shorting L1 bridges together.
Looks like a real handy item. Wish I had it today, as I just used a conductive pen on my new TBird. What a pain in the ass trying to do each bridge cleanly.

Those tapes are rather expensive...23.99 dollars. Well, those are japan made and many of my friends got them. They are supposedly around 5~7 dollars back in Japan. Well, I guess the shipping to US costs alot. It's good stuff if you got the bux. But I personnaly woudn't spend that much for that little tape.
i'd personally use the rear defroster repair trick...it lasts and costs about $8

yeah I'd agree, it took me two tries to get it perfect (well almost :) ) using a toothpick, but it works great and is easy to clean off if you have to. Plus a single $8 kit will let you do dozens of CPUs.

HOW MUCH?
I would have expected them to be about $1
Glad I use a conductive pen.

Does this kit contain only one strip? $24 on a $100 to 200 CPU? That's more expensive than many decent coolers, and what's wrong with using a pencil and then putting non-conductive adhesive tape on top of those pencil junctions? That should last forever, and costs close to nothing.

I agree the price is high, but it is less than replacing your CPU if you do a bad job and fry it. I have heard that if the graphite/conductive epoxy/conductive ink or whatever you use on the bridges touches each other it is possible to damage your CPU. I believe that is what happened to a Duron 800 I had that I ended up replacing.
I was able to find 6B graphite pencils but I am going to order one of these to see how it works.
