Check to make sure the CPU is seated correctly, and also your RAM

One long beep followed by a short beep could mean there is a problem with the motherboard, or the cpu.
one long beep only is a problem with the ram.
I had a long beep followed by two short beeps and it ended up being my motherboard.
It was only a P1 though.
Good luck!

Could very well be, could also be your vid. card not plugged in (like I had some times). There was a post by Jeff some days ago about cleaning up arctic silver, it is very hard to remove indeed! Try and search AMD cpu's and GENERAL discussion. Succes ..

Use a pencil eraser (rubber) to remove the arctic silver on your CPU. I did mine just like that...thanks to Rob Cork's suggestion....
It will totally remove the arctic silver on your CPU in less than 5 minutes. Don't use those cheap erasers...they might just damage your cpu. Use one of those Staedtler erasers(white color). Cut the eraser small enough so that you can rub it in between those small areas on the CPU.
clean every thing up with a Qtip and alcohol or pencil eraser repencil the bridges (if you`ve done that) arctic silver is slighlty conductive and might have caused the problem dosnt seem likley,,, the corect amount of arctic silver would be about three to four time`s the size of the head of a pin
if after redoing every thing and checking what the other guys said try reseting the cmos
good luck ;D
