View Full Version : What makes CPU hot!! changing VCore ??? HELP
Just wondering what makes the CPU so hot
I'm over clocking K-7 Anthlon 850@950
and it's like 56c i bought a super orb fan to help
and other fan to blow on it
my settings are 100 bus x 9.5 on the mutipler

The superorb might not be sufficient enough to cool your HOT CPU. Try getting a different HSF combo. I would go with either Alpha PEP66 with Delta fan(if you don't mind the noise) or Sunon fan...whichever you like or Hedgehog. Alpha PEP seems to do the cooling job very well at the cost. It's around 30~37 dollars range.
Changing the voltage definitely raises the temperature and running the CPU higher than it's stock speed will create more heat. So you really need a better HSF than the superorb.

use some good thermal paste, don't use too much or too little, just make sure its making contact with the CPU. If the bottom of your orb looks/feels rough or uneven you could use some high-grit sandpaper to smooth it out.
I found that for each 0.025V that I could drop the Vcore resulted in a drop of almost 1C.
