I just installed a powerleap adapter and AMD K6II 400MHz cpu in an IBM Aptiva 2159-S76. After the install I can't access my floppy (external / media console) . If I lower the bus speed to 60 MHz from 66.6 MHz All is well except the CPU is only running @ 350MHz?
The system has a 145 watt ps coyuld this be the problem?
After checking some fo the other boards it seems that others are having the same prob.

Lets see who can crack this one?

oh boy! welcome to aptiva hell ... i discovered like you that the console limits what you are able to do ... moreover the ps in those things really struggles to handle even the stock load let alone any additional load (replaced with a 250w) ... then i re-configured the systems so that all of the components fit inside the tower ... (have fun relocating the power switch from the console to the tower) ... in the end the result was disappointing considering how much work i had to put into the system ... sorry dude

do or do not there is no try

Thanks for the reply. I think your right on both, the aptiva and the ps are a piece of **** ! It must be the power supply, I have noticed some slight differences since the upgrade even when I have the clock set to 60MHz. But when i go to 66.6 it must be just enough to start real failures. I am going to upgrade the ps on wed. I'll let you know if it helps. I am sure there are a lot of others out there that will be happy too.

Thanks Again
John
