chat software doesn't work with firewall??

hi, for some reason, i am unable to chat on yahoo with my computer. on the website it says that if i'm running a firewall, i need chat 2.0. well i select that and nothing happens. i tried disabling my firewall and using java, but the same thing ... nothing. does anyone know why it's not working? i'm running Xp Home with SP1. thnks

I would say that you need to find what port Yahoo Chat uses and open that port and map it to the computer you want it to go to.
