View Full Version : HELP!!!!
I just put my first computer together, an abit-kt7a raid, i put all the stuff in, plugged it, checked the connections and turned it on. It started beeping like a mother so I turned it off and now it wont turn on again? Anyone know how to fix this problem??? Please help, thanks.
Go to MSI's web site, the manufacturer who built your board, they have post beep codes. Take a look at them and it will tell you what is wrong, probably something to do with either video, ram, fan, or cpu.
Get your post codes, better yet, tell us what your beep codes are... 3 long beeps? 2 long beeps and one short beep? what are your codes?
OK, go Abit's site not MSI's for info on your Abit board. But try reseating the SDRAM first. It takes a lot of pressure to get them in all the way. It's a good idea to install SDRAM DIMMs before you put the motherboard in the case so you can exert enough force to get them in all the way.
From Paul's Unofficial ABIT KT7 FAQ
http://www.icrontic.com/faqs/kt7faq/kt7faq.htm
"If you have BIOS version WW or WZb00, and you get four beeps and then the machine shuts down, this is because these versions of the BIOS will shut down your machine if no fan tachometer signal is detected on FAN1 header. Make sure you attach a fan to this header! BIOS WZb01 and later have this functionality disabled by default, and it can be enabled in the BIOS."
