Is it possible to overclock this cpu up to 600Mhz ?? I'm Only able to get 570 and that with GlobalWin FEP32, and a 72W Peltier?
I also did some lapping without success :(

I was able to run at 600Mhz at 2.5v 6x100 but after a few minutes I got bluescreen, is this a typical heat problem??

Next step may be to remove the heatsink on the cpu.. scary stuff.. Good tip on that 1 is needed, on how to do it.

It's Mounted on a Shuttle591p w/196mb ram, Matrox G400-32

I have also mounted heatsink on the L2 cache, and the chipset.

Thx!!

You are probably out of luck. While the newer k6-2+ and k6-3+ series (0.18 u) can generally be clocked above 600, the original k6-2 550 (0.25 u) is really at the upper limit already. I would feel lucky to get 570. Sorry.

k6-2 450 @ 500 (usually, sometimes 500 for kicks)
s7-mvp3 mobo (oem crap)
128 mb generic pc100
viper II w/ 32 mb

yo dude
u may be able to get a bit more from your k62 but not much u should be able to get to 600mhz or slightly more but around 620mhz...ish is round about tops for the k62550 the k62+550 is much better for overclocking

it sounds like u have a heat problem but the fact that u can get the pc to boot and run at 600mhz even for a few minutes would suggest that u can get more to get there u will have to take the cap off the cpu (see link below) also I would suggest putting a 60mm black label fan on the cpu heatsink : noisy but good!!!: and fit the heatsink using arctic silver thermal compound this will be a major help in dropping your temperatures and giving increased stability at the higher speeds
I would also suggest getting a fan blowing on to your chipset and fit ram heat sinks to your dimms (good crucial pc 133 or mushkin will also help your overclock) as to go faster u may have to up your I/O voltage to 3.4v or 3.5v
U can also try upping your cpu core voltage a k62550 will take up to 3.3vcore if u have good cooling if not then a more realistic core voltage is around 2.9 to 3.0vcore and will help keep the temperature down

OK here is the link for the removal of the cpu heatsink cap
www.overclockingstore.co.uk if u go into the forum there and enter the overclocking section head for page 5 and look for a post by bindibingi then follow your nose and look for a reply by spidi which details the caps removal

good luck

SKIP I know that I'm not meant to post links to your competitors here but as it's in the UK I hope u will let it go this time ( feel free to kick my ass if required )
