View Full Version : What happen when the AMD cpu get too hot?
Does it instantly fried the CPU or it just lock up and not post at the BIOS? I'm curious because I'm going to try o/c mine to the max and want to be cautious.
if you turn on with NO HSF 8Sec. Bye-Bye
if you just get too high 50C 55C whatever for your board HSF Etc. it will lock up. Start slow take it up a little at a time till you lose stability and then back down to stable. Takes a while to get right combination of Multi. FSB and voltages. ALL OC's DIFFERENT depends on your cpu case memmory ETC. Two identical systems will do different. Hope it helps
Posted another link about your HSF question in other post MEGA HSF REVIEW check it out....

The max temp the chip can handle before becoming unstable depends on the chip, but as an example my tbird will crash when it gets to 59C (just cover the holes in my case and switch the case fans off, watch the temp rise :-) ). Running 50-55C shouldn't make your cpu unstable, but running it cooler will get you a bit of stability when ocing and more importantly it'll increase your cpu's lifespan. Aim for 40-45C, but don't be scared if you see 50C.
