I am running a K6 2 450 Voltage is 2.4 @450. This is stamped on the top of the chip. I am running it @ 500 (5x100) I am using a P75 HS which is pretty big. I also have a 5v fan that is a perfect fit. I am running it @7v. This thing runs 41C at full load. The voltage is 2.8. Been running it here for about 2 months am going to try (5x112) soon. May have to go to better cooling. I also have a big fan on my VooDoo card and 2 other case fans. One inlet one outlet. This thing is very solid.
Any input or questions.....

More cooling is always a good thing, but it sounds like you have everything under control. I say go for it. Good luck.

K6-2 450 @ 500 (usually, sometimes 550 for kicks)
S7-MVP3 mobo (oem crap)
128 mb generic pc100
viper II w/ 32mb
greetings
U may have more luck trying at 5.0 X 110mhz fsb to give 550mhz or slightly lower at 5.0 X 105mhz fsb to give 525mhz I would also suggest a heatsink fan combo for a coppermine with a 60mm black label fan on the top ( noisy but very good) to give more cooling
2.8vcore is quite high for a k62450 @ 500 are u running at this voltage because of how your jumper set up allows or by choice . most k62450 will be fine at 2.5/2.6vcore at 500mhz and will run a lot cooler
the most I've had from a k62450 was 577.5 @ 105mhz fsb X 5.5 @ 2.7vcore with I/O voltage of 3.4v (this was a k62 450 afx)
so u could get some more speed depends on how far u want to push it!!
anyway suck it and see cause it's the only way u will know

Thanks,
I have her backed down to 2.6 now and seems stable. Running at 36.5C after 2 hrs full load. I couldn't get a full boot up before with any thing lower than 2.8v. Must have needed some tweeking. Thanks again.
Next 550.......yeeha

That sounds pretty good, I had a hell of a time with my chip but I found a little higher fsb, raising the volatage and good cooling helped me.

What cooling do you use to get your 400 to 550? And what voltage? I am going to try for 550 this weekend. Cooling will probably be the issue. This thing runs pretty cool now. But once I crank her up who knows.
Thanks
yo dude
for better cooling get a quality coppermine cooler with a 6000rpm fan which pushes around 25/26cfu and fit it using arctic silver thermal paste or even better get the coppermine cooler and fit a black label fan these suckers push about 38cfu but they are abit(sic) noisy not quite as bad as a fop38 tho. then use the spare fan to waft air over your chipset if u want to get better cooling take the cpu's cap off u will gain around 3c and will make the cpu far more stable for overclocking
do u know what version of k62450 u have ??? u can find details on the cpu's cap look for a code similar to afx , ahx etc. or try sandra or cpuid to find the version u have
cheers

How do you get the cap off? I was trying with a exacto knife but it didn't seem like it was working, didn't want to crack the chip.
TIA.

It is and AHX according to the cap. WCPUID says model 8.
I have read some articles about popping the top. Doesn't sound too bad.
I have a Soyo 5EHM mobo. JUMPERS SUK. I think this thing may be my limiting factor. I guess I will keep at it. Never know. Anyone had any luck with this board? Success stories would be great......
Thanks for your help guys.
