Why does my tbird1.1ghz goes so much hotter than everyones elses?? have tried 2 fop32 and one coolermaster.
With my fop32 its a nice idle temp of around 25-27 when room temp is around 22-23 but then if i load the cpu it goes straight up too 47 and even beyound 50. Have been tried 2 fop32 with the same result and the globalwin thermal paste. Then today i called a store and asked if they got the fop38 but they didnt have it this time either so the store told me they got the new one from coolermaster(dp5-6h51) so bought just to try if it really was better than the fop32 as the store told me. BUT when i booted it up and got into the bios to check the temp it was 46c and after a few sec 55c then 60c before i turned it off:( Why in the hell wont my tbird run the recommended heatsink at a descent temp??? The same heatsink work fine for other ppl. Also this temps is from the default speed/voltage. Dosent get much differente in temp if i oc it too 1.2eihter just a little hotter when loaded. So im also afraid the monitor shows too low temp since the idle temp is just 25-27c and then rises over 47-50 just running once in 3dmark. So is it something wrong with my cpu since its so hot?? should i goto the store and demand a new one? SInce i cant afford putting on watercooler just to run the damn **** at its default speed.

50C is warm, but it's hardly unusual - most people run at 50C+ before upgrading their cooling, and 45C or below is considered pretty cool. It could well be your case cooling - my PAL6035 on a tbird700 at stock speed and voltage ran at 58C at first, but adding a couple of case fans and a blowhole dropped that to 45C under load. If you don't keep a supply of cold air going to your heatsink it'll heat up all the air in the case, and run much hotter than it should. Try a couple of low-cfm 120mm fans, one at the front in the bottom of the case sucking cool air in, and one at the top on the back, exhausting the hot air around your cpu out the back of the case. It'll work wonders for your temps :-)

i got 2 chase fans sucking air out but it still dont help much. system temp is never over 25c

but why is some hotter than others on the same speed??? it isnt very stable either

btw isnt it strange that my temp is under 30c when idle??? When i have booted windows my temp is aroun 37-40c and if i dont do anything it drops to 27-25 or 2c over the system monitor. but then if i just run 3dmark one time if it dosent lock up then it rises 48-50 and over. So i am afraid the temps really are higher than 50c when my via hardware monitor shows it. SInce i have never heard if a tbird running at just 2 degrees over the system temp when idle

Different cpus run at different temps mainly because people have different ambient air temps - so if the air in someone's room is 5C cooler, their comp will run a few degrees cooler as well. If you have two fans sucking air out that'll mean you have negative pressure inside the case - that means less air for your hsf to transfer heat to, which is bad. If you put one of those fans sucking air in I bet that'd help a whole load - where are they located in the case? If one is on the side or front turn it around so it sucks air into the case, and see whether that drops your temps at all. The stability could be due to the temp btw - people often find lowering the temp by 5C or so gets a few extra MHz out of the cpu. It ought to be able to run at about 55C at least at stock speed and voltage, but yours might not - I expect cooling it down will help. Try changing one of the fans around as I said, let us know whether it helps.

I have tro fans sucking out air in the back of the chase. one fan near the cpu and one right over the psu at the top. i tried putting one fan in bottom front of the chase that blowed in while the fan near the cpu sucked out. After some tests i found out that this configuration was the best. Dunno if it helps to buy one more fan to put in the front and blow air in while the 2 other ones suck air out at the back

Make sure that you cover the CPU just lightly with the heatsink compound. Sometimes several tries are necessary to make sure that

a - the heatsink fits tightly and
b- that the compound has the right thickness. It's not supposed to cover the core, but just to improve conductivity on areas that are not quite even.

The 60C for the coolermnaster is really kinda high. I too like the Alphas very much.

Finally do you use a full tower case , and does your PS blow air out of the case?

yeah i got a maxi tower. compond?? you mean thermal paste?? i maked it sure that it covered the core this time. hmm i dunno if it blowing or sucking but i think its sucking out and it has some holes in the bottom and none on the top

Well, one thing you could try is get a small table fan(around 8 in. dia.) and take the side off your case and let that fan blow into your case,if it brings your temps down to where you want them then you know you need better case cooling,If not then you might need to rework the hs/f.

thx going to try that tomorrow but i really doubt is the chase right now i my window open and my computer right under the window so the system temp is: 14c right now and the cpu is 18c idle but as soon i start loading the cpu it goes over 40c

i have been running prime95 for about 8min now and the temp is now already 44c and the chase temp is 17c right now so i dont think there is any way to cool the chase down to 17c with one more fan and i cant have my window up all day since its -8c outside right now. shouldnt it be enough with a fop32?? been to most of the pc stores in my city but they are all sold out of fop38 and they dont get them in before march:(
