Well I took the plunge and I overclocked my brand new 1ghz TBird to 1.1ghz today. I am running seti@home right now to check the stability and I have not encountered any problems yet. I checked my temperatures using the Via Hardware Monitor and the CPU at Idle is 30 C and while it is running seti it is at 42 C. Are the temperature readings that this program gives accurate and if so how are my temperatures looking? For cooling I have an 80mm fan for intake at the front of the case, an 80 mm fan at the back of the case for blowing out, a slot cooler next to my geforce2 mx card to remove the heat from that and a card cooler xt blowing over the whole motherboard it self. Well any advice would be greatly appreciated. My specs are as follows:

1ghz TBird @ 1.1ghz (10*110)
Abit KT7a
300 Watt Antec PSU
256 MB Crucial PC133 Cas 2
13.9gb Quantam Fireball HD
Asus V7100 Geforce 2MX
Soundblaster Live
3Com Network Card
Creative 52x Cd Rom

Thanks for all the help!

Congratulations with ur overclock! And welcome to the world of overcloking.
It' looks like u have a nice setup there, but I have some questions:

Have u unlocked ur chip ( draw some lines on the L1 bridge)?

Have u overclocked ur Asus 7100?

What Vcore do run at?

If u answer these questions, I think we might be able to make ur system run even faster! And that is all overclocking is about, right?

Thanks for the response! I have not unlocked the chip yet. I just recieved my conductive pen in the mail the other day and I won't be able to get to it until a week or so from now since I have a load of exams and work. I have overclocked my video card in the past a bit but right now I am just running it at stock speeds. And I am running the VCore at the default. I haven't touched that yet. I am kinda wary about going any higher without getting a better heatsink/fan. I think my saving grace is that I have the huge card cooler xt blowing down like 70 cfm right on top of the heatsink/fan. I had thought that the fan was only suppose to run at 4000rpm but with the extra air pressure on it it has been running at 5200. Well thanks for the help!

great job on ur first OC. u've done us proud. but man, u've got the kt7a bra, grap the hb pencil and do those bridges, and go 8.5x133 or something. provided u've got the ram, which u do. u'd prolly get to cool down by using less multiplier, my tb800 at 1000 10x100 is a lot hotter than 7.5x133. so go for it, u know u wanna. plus ur temps will drop and ur scores will increase, cant beat that.

good luck
